Jaden's Pinewood Derby

Here's Jaden at the derby. He wants me to let you all know why he's not smiling. His car kept on coming in third and fourth place and it was really frustrating him. I think he's too much like me in that he can be quite competitive at games. I was doing my best to get him to pose for me.....thus the very unenthusiastic thumbs up!

Doesn't he look great in his scout uniform?!

What a handsome scout and what a cool car! Good job on it guys! We just had our pinewood derby last month, and it was pretty fun. We had one scout who's car wasn't even crossing the finish line, he was getting so upset he finally started bawling...his Mom was ready to just leave. Finally one of the other dad's took the boys car and loaded a bunch of weight on it so he could win a couple races at the end. The kids smile after that was the best! Always exciting, that pinewood derby!

These Derby's can be so upsetting for the NON-winning children! Let's ban them! At least he still looks darling! I forgot about his glasses!

That picture of him with his thumb up but face not smiling cracks me up! Bummer about not winning, but what a good looking car! I'm with you, Karmen, on banning the derby's. They are stressful and just a lot of work for the dad's; I feel so bad for the kids who don't have anyone helping them that knows what they are doing.

Jaden, Bridger can feel your pain! He wasn't winning either, so he was trying his best to keep a fake smile pasted on his face. That's why I never blogged our derby. It wasn't the greatest experience... So, who wants to write Thomas S. and tell him we are signing a Ban the Derby petition?!? :)

(nd Tracy, that pic of him IS hilarious! :))

I agree with the ban..but while we are writing Thomas S. about the ban, can we just ask about banning all scouting in general?! I'm not a fan, and maybe if my bishop sees this, he will release me from my primary calling over cubs!!!!!!! Or make me stay in it forever until I gain a testimony of it, dang it!

Well,I never have done scouts before.Since I don't have any brother's!It looks kinda stressful! But since I'am in Activitys Day Leader. We thought maybe we should do this for the girls? What do you think ? Yes or No Derby?

Ha ha...love Bawwrry's thumb's-up pic. His facial expression says it all! I've never been in scouts, either, but Mike has to do a little more with it right now, and hates every minute of it. So I'm with the rest of you...ban scouting!

He does look great Deb. It can be so hard for the boys whose cars don't do as well. It's a good lesson in sportsmanship, but it's not easy. I've seen some cubs get so disappointed that they are almost crying. It's tough to watch because you want them all to win.

The car is very tough looking, by the way. They surely did a great job!

Jaden I love your car and I am sorry you didn't win. Im with everyone else on not having scouts, its not fun to be a leader, they always have so much to do and so much to plan. Kalven isn't old enough yet so Im still okay for a few more years. So who was going to write that letter? Did I hear Tracy? Karmen? Tiff? Val? Koriann? :)
